1st week

OK - so I'm a little slow in getting started. I've carried pass-along cards in my pocket all week. But so far have not given any out. In Priesthood meeting today we had another training session in doing missionary work. And the Stake General Priesthood meeting tonight was all about missionary work. So now I really do have to start doing something.

Training

Sometimes it is really amazing how things work. At Priesthood meeting today in opening exercises, the Bishop said something to the effect, "We want to do something today out of the ordinary. We want to take a few moments and have the missionaries train us on how to to do missionary work." So the full time missionaries stood up and challenged us to be having regular QGD's. That stands for quality gospel discussions. A quality gospel discussion is composed of teaching, testifying and inviting.

The Bishop then said from now on for the foreseeable future we would be asked to share our experiences with QGD's in Priesthood meeting.

Wow - how timely was that. I feel it was more than coincidence.

I also was able to get a handful of pass-along-cards.

Stocking up on pass-along-cards.

I decided to start by stocking up on pass-along-cards. Last night I went to the Church to get some. The only people there were the Stake President and his 2nd counselor. Neither of them could find any cards. Today I drove to the little distribution center down by the Temple. They told me they had none and to try Deseret Book. I went to Deseret Book and they told me I would have to get them from the missionaries. So now I guess I'm going to see if I can get a few from the missionaries - and then order some on-line. But when you order them on-line - you have to order them in packs of 100. I guess that's OK. I didn't realize they would be so hard to get.
